Many of you have been asking me lately how I do my couponing. While I'm not one of those "extreme" couponers you see on TV, I do spend quite a bit of time clipping coupons and searching for the best deals. I thought I would share my most recent trip to Kroger.
This week (and probably next) Kroger is having a Mega sale where you buy 10 participating items and get $5 off your order, no maximum limit. I scoured 3 blogs for the best deals: www.savingslifestyle.com, www.dealseekingmom.com, and www.southernsavers.com. I also used Deal Seeking Mom's and Southern Savers' coupon databases. I printed off several online coupons and clipped as many as I could find. Once I had everything matched up, off to the store I went. Here are pictures of my purchases.
Freezer/Refrigerated Items: I took a separate picture because my littlest munchkin was hungry. So I put those groceries away first and dealt with the rest later so I could feed her lunch. These were also my most expensive items. 2 gallons of milk at $3 each, $4 bag of chicken tenders, $2.74 Nathan's hot dogs (couldn't help it - they're good!), $4 for 1 lb. of Oscar Mayer lunch meat, $2.50 for 1/2 pound of Oscar Mayer Carving Board chicken, $.99 Oscar Mayer lunchable with fresh fruit (Gavin will love this on his field trip tomorrow!) and $1.79 Kraft sliced cheese (against my better judgment - no coupon!), 2 loaves of garlic bread $3.78. Then there's the meatballs ($1.99) and Sargento cheese $1.92). Some of these things I wouldn't normally buy without coupons, but today I needed to. Total freezer items: ~$29.71. I tell you this, because it makes the rest of the grocery prices that much sweeter once you see my final total.
Looking at the picture of the rest of the items, here is a list of what I bought, including my best deals:
8 cans Campbell's soup
16 boxes/bags Ronzoni pasta (not just free, but I profited a penny per box making my profit $.16 total!)
Loaf of bread and hot dog buns
2 jars Ragu sauce
1 Johnson & Johnson baby wash
5 boxes of cereal, including Cap'n Crunch and All Natural Cereal from the organic section
2 bags Boulder natural kettle cooked chips
3 boxes of Old El Paso taco shells, 1 box Spanish rice, 2 packets of taco seasoning
2 bags Quaker rice cakes
2 bottles Propel water
3 bottles Gatorade
1 bag Mahatma Rice
Now, want to know how much I spent? Total for everything was $63.50, and $6.31 of that was tax!
